What to Expect
Upon scheduling an appointment, New Patient Paperwork will be emailed to you. At your appointment Dr. Runyan will go over all paperwork with you and discuss your wants, needs, and goals for treatment.
Dr. Runyan will then perform a series of exams to determine the root cause of your aches and pains. She will go over her findings, possible treatment options, and dispel any concerns you may have. At the conclusion of your initial appointment you will receive your first treatment and be on the path to feeling and functioning better!
Dr. Runyan views each person as a puzzle. She gets down to the root cause to determine which treatment will work best for each individual. With that being said, no two people will get the same treatment every single visit. She will sit down with you at the beginning of each visit to touch base on how you felt and functioned following care. Her goal is to get you as healthy as possible as quickly as possible, and that requires valuable feedback from you!
Why No X-Ray's?
Dr. Runyan does not take X-rays in office and does not need them in order to treat you is because an X-ray is really just a snapshot in time. She is treating you as a whole, as a person, and as a moving, living being. Dr. Runyan wants to know how you are in the moment she’s treating you, not what your X-ray showed in that one moment in time.
However, if at any point during the consultation, exam, and history Dr. Runyan determines there are red flags and possible contraindications of care, she will refer you out to receive X-rays or further imaging.
Chiropractic is safe and as long as a thorough consultation and examination are performed, it is perfectly safe to continue with adjustments or other forms of treatment.
How Long Until I Feel Better?
This is a tricky question. The period of time it will take to get you functioning and feeling better depends on a few factors. The top three are: what the cause is, how long you’ve been experiencing discomfort or pain, and how willing you are to comply with your treatment plan.
If you’ve been “putting up with” this pain for months to years, it will likely take longer than one or two visits to get you moving and functioning properly again.
Dr. Runyan’s goal is to put an end to your pain, maintain optimal function, and keep you healthy! This means that even after you’re feeling better, you continue getting regular chiropractic care every 8-10 weeks.
If you move well, you feel well, you live well!
